Actually we are technically in autumn but I thought I'd keep the title just to show I inherit some green thumbs from mum's side. This is what happened when I left it to its own devices. My Portulaca is an aggressive encroaching plant. The other day uncle took pity on a broken branch and stuck it onto the bigger tray where I have my yet-to-see-flower plants. As a result it not only flourished but killed 2 other plants.
Look at the massive flowers that came out of it. If you look to the right side, you can see the yellowing leaves of a dying plant. Anyway this can't go on and uncle pretty much asked me to get rid of flowers that are not blooming yet.
Also given that I might be changing dwellings soon, I have bought another trough pot with the intention of lining the perimeter of my future balcony with this plant. So one fine public holiday where Bits gets his man cave allowance, I sat down with my pots and start reporting and digging out dead plants. Of course Mr Kepoh aka Churro must be come and inspect what's going on.
Given this plant is always out of his reach, he was happy to be given a chance to sample it. He was allowed to linger around my working area until he started maneuvering empty pots in a way so that he can hump it. That was when I shooed him away.
After re-potting, the whole thing still look like a mess so I took out a pair of scissors and trimmed it. The end result looked more manageable.
I also trimmed out a small pot for Nite. It's black thumb proof hence it will be ok. Uncle also quietly grow a separate a pot for himself. It's a lovable plant for needs constant trimming to keep it in check.
Surprisingly there is also one surviving Agapanthus. Despite uncle urging me to throw it away, I have re pot it.
Hopefully it can grow and bear some flowers.
